This is the devil card created in the Rider-Waite-Smith deck. When we look at the image it certainly looks menacing, and downright evil, it is no wonder that when it shows up in a reading it gives at a minimum, pause to the quadrant and at its worse it provokes dread and fear. There are many ,if not most, web sites, that say that the devil is not meant to portend evil, Satan or the Devil. Any evil or demonic aspect is down played.This card is said to be an " an excellent indicator for success in business and career." I ask "Do we not do a disservice when we completely ignore the obvious symbolic meaning of this card, namely that of the devil, which symbolizes the devil and evil? I think we do.

Why bother to add such a card with such symbolism if that meaning is to be ignored? Let us look at some of the images created in this card. From the research we can see that it was created to mean EVIL , from the devil.

1.The card is the fifteenth trump or major Arcana 15 reduces to 6 in numerology, a number often associated with evil as in the biblical reference in Revelation to the number of the beast 666. Yet the number 6 on its own is used as the number of a man two arms, legs and one head one body ) adding to 6.

2. He sits above two naked human demons—one male, one female, who are chained to his seat. Note that they both have horns are their head and a tail, both common symbols for demons, the Devil and evil.

2.The image of the Devil in this card is derived in part from Eliphas Levis famous illustration Baphomet in his Dogme et Rituel de la Haute Magie (1855) as seen below.("Dogmas and Rituals of High Magic"), in which he included an image he had drawn himself which he described as Baphomet and "The Sabbatic Goat",the best-known representation of Baphomet. This "demon" seems to be a purely imaged deity however ,its creation in its symbolic form, was to represent an evil nature.

3. The devil card of the Rider deck has an upside down pentacle, while the drawing of Levi does not. The history of the meaning of the pentacle and pentagram is old. Rider took his imagery even one step further by adding the upside down pentacle. An image used by Satanists.

The upright pentacle has been a Wiccan symbol for quite sometime, and it does have a distinctly different meaning when it is upright. Think of the symbolism of the cross, does it not have a different, perverted meaning when it is upside down? The points on the pentacle are associated with the five elements as seen here
and is not an evil symbol what so ever.

The imagery of the inverted pentacle with Baphomet was deliberately used to denote evil, satin and the devil. The combination of the upside down pentagram and Baphomet has become the official symbol of the Church of Satan. Inside the pentacle is the image of a goat, its horns in the upper two points, its ears filling the two bottom points , and its mouth in the last.

4.According to Waite, the Devil is standing on an altar.Clearly this is in reference to worshiping the devil, satanism and a reverence for evil.
DEVIL CARD STANDS FOR EVIL INFLUENCE
The Tarot of deck of Rider-Waite is filled with symbols, this we know, yet why are we ignoring or downplaying the imagery and obvious symbolic meaning or the cards that frighten us? We can not if we wish to truly read effectively. It is a matter of careful interpretation however , in relation to the other cards in the spread, the question asked and your own psychic read on the card.

Should we fear it when we see it in our spread? Yes. Remember a reading has the added benefit of giving warning and this is often what the card can mean. Perhaps , as when the card is in the 8th position of the Celtic spread, that of what is influencing the situation, it may mean that someone has malevolent feelings and intent for the quadrant. At times it can mean that someone is participating in black magic on you either directly or in the ethereal plane.

DEVIL CARD IN A LOVE SPREAD
When the question is about a love relationship and this card comes up, it can mean that the union is based on "unholy" alliances or on sex , that the love has a dark nature and is not beneficial to either party. This is seen in the couple , naked, noting a sexual element , they are chained to the devil , unable to get free. Often when there is an abusive relationship, where one party finds it difficult to leave, the devil card will show up.

DEVIL CARD IN OUTCOME POSITION
Should be considered a warning of things to come. Remember with a reading, equipped with this knowledge, one can change this possible outcome. Depending on the question it can denote a person. If the question is about a situation, the result will not be favorable for your client. It is your job to continue with the reading and find a solution and equip them with a strategy to AVOID this outcome. DO NOT LEAVE THEM without a plan that they can embrace confidently to change the path they are on.

To summarize, there is good and bad in the world, this is a fact. To do a life reading for someone and deliberately negate the cards that are frightening or not nice, is foolish at best. their is a movement with many readers right now, to insist that the devil and death card are not in way associated with actual death,illness or evil, when in fact, sometimes, they are.
These cards were created for these unpleasant yet real aspects of life.

There is , like all things, much information about the tarot, one can quickly become overwhelmed with details. Apparently there is much confusion and misinformation as well. Much of the beliefs that are founded in error, I like to think stem from a sense of romanticism , such as that the Tarot is as old as Ancient Egypt or that the gypsies used and brought the Tarot to civilization. It seems that neither of these ideas are based on any recordable fact. I personally don't need to believe that they are of ancient origin , I know that they work.

They are a tool to be used by physics. This brings us to the question, Can any one read the cards? and I think I need to add effectively?

Well yes and no. Do I believe that we all have latent psychic ability? Yes I do. And it ,like most gifts or talents, needs to be developed. If someone has the interest, it is likely that they have an untapped ability. This seems like a good barometer to access if someone may have talent. So with proper dedication and work, those who have the potential can learn to read the cards. However, sadly, many people wish to read the cards for profit , their main motive may be impure. This would effect the overall energy and outcome of the cards. during their readings. In addition, others may wish to read the cards, because they have already begun to explore the ancient arts of Wicca and Tarot seems like a natural addition to their studies., as it is. There are many books available that teach a practitioner how to use the Tarot in spell casting for example. And still , there are those who are pursing a line of the black arts and wish to add the Tarot to their arsenal of weapons.

PURE MOTIVE NEEDED to read the cards effectively

I am certain that when false and impure motives are behind the Tarot , one can not read the cards. A wall of protection is invoked for a reason. There are incarnate beings of malevolent intent waiting in the wings to swoop in and mess with the lives of Gods creatures. There are beings, even demons that are looking for opportunities to do their work, which is in destroying creation and giving the beings of light difficult and changeling times. In other words, if you have impure motives, you open the door for evil spirits to channel threw you and give harmful information to your poor client. At best, when you open yourself up during a reading you run the risk of possession.
Warnings never read your own cards, the spirits will mess with you. Watch out for doing repeative readings for another within a short period of time. Do not do another reading on the same subject during a reading because the client does not like the outcome you run a substantial risk of misinformation. It irritates the energies that you are working with that they were not listened to the first time.

YOUR Future, the Ouija Board is it safe?

Is the OUIJA board a sinister divination tool?
This is one of the best treasuries I have seen in a long time, I thought I would post it here as it is YOUR FUTURE !There I found many great items from Etsy.com and it made me think of the OUIJA Board. I am so tempted to purchase the necklace that was featured. It made me think why have I always had such a fascination with this strange device. In fact, next to me as I write this morning, sits on top of my crystal singing bowl, a Ouija Board that I purchased from The CRESCENT HOTEL from Eureka Springs Missouri. I, as a child loved my late night sessions with my friends in a candle lite room, asking questions away. My memories bring back excitement and fear. As an adult I have learned a healthy respect for this "game".




I thought it would be interesting to do a bit of research of it , I have learned that


A Ouija board (/ˈwiːdʒiː/), from French "oui" and German "ja" also known as a spirit board or talking board, is a flat board marked with letters, numbers, and other symbols, supposedly used to communicate with spirits. Interesting origins, I admit Im curious how the name was developed.

It uses a planchette (small heart-shaped piece of wood) or movable indicator to indicate the spirit's message by spelling it out on the board during a séance. The fingers of the séance participants are placed on the planchette, which then moves about the board to spell out messages.



Ouija is a trademark for a talking board currently sold by Parker Brothers. It has become a trademark that is often used generically to refer to any talking board. This is true!

Since its invention in the late nineteenth century, the Oujia board has been associated with the threat of demonic possession. Wasn't it THE EXORCIST that featured the dreaded board? Consequently, mainstream Christian denominations have warned against using Ouija boards. My christian associates are convinced that to own one or use one is to play with the devil himself, is this just another influence of the media ?

Occultists, on the other hand, are divided on the issue, with some saying that it can be a positive transformation; others echo the warnings of many Christians and caution inexperienced users against it. I have had some bad indirect results with its use and am beginning to err on the side of extreme caution with its use.




My children made a Quija board from nothing more that a piece of paper and used a simple glass cup. An idea they found from the internet. My 14 year old daughter at least knew enough to make a circle of salt protection around herself and friends. I was out for the evening with my husband, we came home late that night. I found my children and her friends still up. They were extremely excited and animated.

They had used the Ouija board, they reported bumps in the night, but most troubling to them was that the board had threatened to hurt our cats. Apparently one of the ghosts was a younger girl who had a pet bird and one of our cats had killed it. She was mad!

Quite honestly, I was rather dismissive, I thought they had some good fun, similar to what I had had as a youth. Memories of the Ouija and sleep overs being formed.However, one week to the day, my beloved cat Smokey died.Out of the clear blue he came down with some weird bladder blockage, the vet could not save him. I had 4 cats, and one dog at the time, all cats were related to one another. Today, less than 2 months after this event I have 2 cats. The other cat and dog simply disappeared.

I admittedly am very superstitious about this, it breaks my heart that I have lost 3 beloved "family members. " Yet, I am still attracted to the Ouija. Why? I try to tell myself that the loss of my beloved animals is pure coincidence, which I do not believe entirely. The board that sits next to my bed , I purchased from the Hotel, it is more of a work of art in some ways. I had to have it, It was expensive $25.00. made from foam core, it is a Ouija with a picture of the haunted hotel THE CRESCENT, which from our investigations I believe is most haunted. It was a great souvenir I thought. It sits there haunting me, begging me to use it.

I admit that I am afraid to use it. Yet I am tempted. My children arn't allowed to "play" it anymore. As a future telling device I don't think it has much use, the Tarot seems a better choice. To scare yourself... yes, use the Ouija, but why should one divination tool be sinister while the others are not?

So it seems that ouija boards are viewed by some to be nothing more than a toy,while others believe they can be harmful, including Edgar Cayce, who called them "dangerous.

While tapping into the Tarot, dead spirits are not what gives the information. With the OUija however one summons the dead.
DEMON POSSESSION???
Many people hold the belief that using a Ouija board allows communication with demons, which they say is Biblically forbidden as a form of divination. Some people who claim to have been oppressed by evil spirits after using a board say that they could only get rid of these problems after Christian deliverance. well known psychic Sylvia Browne made her appearance on The Montel Williams Show stating that Ouija boards were dangerous. I think that the most recent declaration from this gifted albeit wealthy in her success psychic, should be headed. After all of this, I think that I will purchase the necklace, I love the shear aesthetics of it. But as far as picking up my Ouija Board, I think I will let it collect dust. Live the motto... better safe than sorry.

I read peoples future so often with the TAROT, I am taping into possible realities, looking at points in space and time, this is a far cry from summoning the dead, who should be on their way out of the communication realm with the living in the first place. It is highly likely in my opinion , that the voices beyond the grave are nothing more (or less) than demons. Do they exist? most surly, but that is the subject matter of yet another blog posting.

MY STORY

I have been reading tarot cards most of my life. When asked by others how I got into this, I respond "I was really born with it". I look back at my childhood and remember how I loved to go off by myself, find a clearing in the woods, how I would just lay down looking at the blue sky and the white fluffy clouds for hours, finding shapes, watching them morph into birds of prey and bunny rabbits .In my mind I would project into nature, calling to the birds, and they would come, the wind would beckon and blow. I believed that it was with my mind, me alone, that moved the clouds to part so the suns rays could fall and warm my face and body. I instinctively gathered rocks and formed a circle for myself to lie in,this was how I spent my secret childhood afternoons. A secret that I have never shared until now. I was always pretty much a loner , and found my contentment in nature, exploring river beds, learning the names of plants and trees, I found and saw magic everywhere.

At around 16 years old or so, I developed a fascination with other peoples hands. I found myself comparing hands, memorizing one shape and noting how different it was from another.The square hand from the oval. I marveled at the wide differences in peoples thumbs, how some were short and others were long. I found myself finding certain hands beautiful and admirable and others frightening. (there is a murders thumb) I later learned that this art of hand reading is palmistry. This is another art that I have trained myself in. I will discuss this fascinating science at another time.

I was raised Lutheran, and it was in many ways strictly forbidden to have any interest in the occult whatsoever. I had learned pretty early on that it was the work of the devil. I have struggled for many years with this, as it was deeply ingrained in my upbringing from the churches teachings. My father, an avid reader, like myself, however, made a study of Magic, in my last year of High School. He hid his books and shared at the dinner table his stories of the evils he found in them. He read them to amour himself against these sinners.

I attended UW Madison Wisconsin and it was during this time that I drove head first into metaphysics. I purchased a Reider Waite deck and many books on the subject . I learned and hold the belief to this day, that this deck is the most effective in genuine psychic reading,at least it is for me.

I read them all, and was a dutiful self taught student. I obeyed what numerous books on the Tarot told me. Sleep with your cards for two years, I did. Wrap your cards in silk, I purchased a lovely blue and lavender large flowing tie dyed silk scarf from the a local Art fair artisan , which the same cards I purchased nearly 30 years still ago, rest in when not in use. I never let any one touch them unless I was doing a reading. My cards now are lovely, they are worn from use, and their physic energy is powerful as a result.

HOW I LEARNED TO READ

I obeyed the very hard to follow rule that I came across, and did not read for myself, OK I confess I did a couple of times. I learned my lesson quickly however that this is a very bad practice as the sprites, the energies that are present in physic phenomenon, can and often do, led you astray, play with you, give you conflicting information. This is why that this odd instruction to readers is given. It must be obeyed. It has been years and years since I did this, it was only in my training period that I did . I can not insit enough that if you are interested in becoming a reader you abide this simple request.

I read the books, cover to cover. I took notes. I tried to learn all the images and their meanings, both upright and upside down and in relation to the other cards. This was like a mini collage course for me. There is allot to remember. I easily found willing souls whom I could practice with, I always had my trusty book with me and we would explore the meaning of the cards together. After I felt that I really knew the cards meanings, I put my books away. Now I would spend time with my cards. I would lie down, burn some incense, play soft new age music and look at each card, feel each card, and find what I sawin each card. This was one of the most important aspects of my training. I spent a full 2 years in this process, no kidding.

I am a very self critical person. I had to be really ready before I would try or attempt a reading without books and for a charge. My first step was a reading without my books and preferably with someone whom I had not practiced on. Again, it was easy to find a subject. It went very well, I was in many ways frightened and unsure,yet I realized right away how important this work was. I sensed the vulnerability in the person who I was giving the reading to, how they NEEDED guidance and reassurance.

I found when I gave my readings , that I was inside of myself ,unsure and often hesitant to say what impression that I was picking up from the cards. When I would touch the card, a strong image of something that I did not feel comfortable saying to the client would appear. I felt very compled to say this but it did not appear in the books and these impressions did not make sense to me. I am self taught and did not have any one that I could go to with this.

Then one day, when chat rooms had just come out, I found a new age room, I let others know that I was a reader, one thing led to another and I offered a free reading to those who wished it. This was life changing for me in regards to my confidence and progress as a physic. I asked a few questions, while I was asking I shuffled the cards, I honestly didn't believe that it would even work, I believed that I needed the energy from the person to go into the cards for an effective reading. I was wrong. Physic energy travels threw anything, including time.

I laid out my spread, as before, the impressions that I would receive came to me and this time, I thought "What could it hurt to just simply let them know?" they could not see me, I did not know them, what the heck, I would give it a try. I was stunned, as were the people on the receiving end. I was picking up life events that went beyond the reading. I knew that someones father had recently died, another was pregnant, someones boyfriend was verbally and physically abusive, on and on it went. I only did this for a few days and never did it again. I knew from that moment on, that I needed to listen and trust those inner voices and pass them on to my clients. My confidence was established. I knew that I was no charlatan. I was authentic and could justify taking money from others for the services I could provide.

It was during this time in my life that I opened a retail store called THE MAGIC GARDEN, it sold my homemade soaps, essential oil products, bath and body, incense and a variety of new age items. I offered Tarot readings in the upstairs up apartment of this down town store housed in a historical building complete with hard wood floors, tin ceilings and lovely vintage floral wallpapers.

The word traveled quickly in this smaller collage town of Oshkosh Wisconsin, and both the city newspaper and collage paper wrote about my talents. ( I hope I can find these articles on the web I have not yet looked but I would love to find the links and share them with you, I have them all, but they have been framed and it would be hard for me to take them out of their frames and scan them on the computer. I wish to share them with you however, because it is not ust a claim, it is a fact that papers and even the TV have felt it worthy to inform the public about my abilities) In fact it seems that wherever I live, the local media picks up on me. After moving to Wausau Wisconsin, channel 7 , came to my home and did an interview about my readings.

HOW I DO A READING

I begin every reading with my little established ritual, I light at least three incense sticks, a candle, I open my special suitcase where Ia keep my cards and gently unroll from the silk my three card sets, The Symbolon, The Goddess Guidance oracle cards and the Reider-Waite Tarot cards. I hold the cards first, and begin to dialogue with my client, asking them what they are concerned about or what they need guidance with. I let them know that a yes or no question is not what the Tarot is here for, that is another matter and is held for the pendulum.

I suggest that a question be framed something like this WHAT IS THE FUTRUE FOR ME IF

I CHOOSE TO STAY WITH THIS MAN, TAKE THAT JOB, MOVE TO THIS CITY? I can show the probable outcome of this choice, give possible warnings and insight to what making that decision will have on your life.

Once we have the question firmly in mind, and after I have asked related questions to their concern, I put the cards down( I am actively shuffling them at this time, not like a card dealer does, I move them , the cards are in my left hand , the right moves them front to back) I then close my eyes and evoke the four archangels, Michael, Uriel, Gabriel and Raphael.

When I owned my store THE MAGIC GARDEN I came across the SYMBOLON deck, which has become invaluable to me. I use this deck in conjunction with the Reider Waite. Ofter I have read the cards from the spread, I shuffle these cards, have my client cut the deck (when doing a phone reading,

I have them say "stop" after a brief mediation) and place the cards over the first cards. These cards give additional information. The cards are as the name implies, highly symbolic. The imagery is fantastic. I suggest these cards, I highly recommend these cards.


I later found the Doreen Virtue GODDESS GUIDANCE ORACLE CARDS fairly recently in my reading career, in the last five years. I found them here in Wausau. I pull one card (for women only) at the beginning of a reading to find the Goddess energy that is influencing the present situation. This has been a wonderful addition to my readings as it is truly amazing how these have never failed me. The UNDYING love card will come up before we even begin a reading that is all about a love that persists through years and years. It has been interesting for me to see the intial reaction of my clients when I have them pull one of these beautiful gold gilded cards. I read the various meanings out of the book, the only time I ever use a book. (no one wants a reading from someone who reads from a book!) I can sense often the thoughts of my client, what is this about?"Great she is using a book!" "What does it mean?". Then during the reading I will refer to the Goddess card that was pulled showing its relevance and influence in her reading. Often times, she will write the name of the Goddess down and do research on her to learn more about her influences. For those who wish to know my Goddess is Basset. The cat lady for sure!

I do not and will not end a reading until it is finished.I don't care if I go over with my costs and will not ask for more money.I know when a reading is completed. My client is equipped with new tools to face his/her situation, they feel better about what they are facing. There is renewed hope with them and a sense of I can do it, or I can make it. Always and I rarely use this word, I am only reinforcing what the client already knew deep down but did not want to face. A true physic can read this and bring it forward, the fact that a total stranger knows something that they have kept hidden from even themselves, is empowering . It must be true. It is true

In conclusion, I wish to explain a little of what is going on, how one can see the past and know the future. At least know THE MOST probable future. At any time, there exists a multitude of possibilities. This is Quantum physics at its very heart. Now some of these possibilities have a higher probability. For example it is possible that today you could find your true love. It is and becomes highly improvable if you don't leave your home, or make any attempt to reach out. The likely hood, in the event you are looking for love, is that you will not find it. this has been overly simplified and many lives are much more complex. Yet Tarot and psychic reading is much like this, being able to read those probabilities and see which path you are presently pursing. Equipped with this information, those possibilities change tragically. Our future is constantly changing, we are forming it daily with our thoughts and deeds.

I have often said that being able to see the future is no different than truing a radio station to a certain dial to receive information. The past present and future all exist on one point in time, we simply need to turn the dial a bit to see it. Yes we all have the ability. It is very useful to get a view of where you are headed given what you are doing now. Can you change the future? Yes: change what you are doing now.
