what does the LIFE LINE mean?

I am so happy to present to my readers this wonderful opportunity to others to learn how to read palms. I found this vintage "game" from the 1960s called TOUCH by Parker Brothers . It suddenly occurred to me that it would be great to scan in the images provided to help instruct on reading the hand. Palm reading is very complex, I have been doing it for years. I will present cards with the images on them and the meaning of them.
Brief History
From time immemorial man has been fascinated with the signs and lines found in his hand and has used them as clues to self-understanding. Indeed this most ancient of the predictive sciences goes back to before written history. The ancient physicians used the science of hand reading for prognostic aw well as diagnostic tool. India and Egypt have both been credited as the seat of palmistry but India was the cradle for Western Palmistry.

Legend has it that Aristotle , who was Alexander the Great teacher, was sent by Alexander to India to find out as much as he could about this fascinating subject. (Alexanders sword makers were gypsies and he had great interest interest in hand reading. )

Aristotle found a rare and ancient tome on hand reading and proceeded to have it translated int Latin. thus the first book to introduce hand reading to the Western World was written by Aristotle around 350 B. C. and titled "De Historai Animalium."

Aristotle taught his pupils the art of palmistry and when his students read Aristotle's hand, they were dismayed by the failings in his hands. He candidly admitted these faults and stated that in his struggle to overcome them, he had become a better person.

Through the centuries such giants as Aonazagoras, Hippocrates, Plato, Ptolemy , Galen, Paracelsus and Avicenna were all practitioners of hand analysis and used it in their work. In the early days, hand reading was used in conjuction with astrology, as the hand was considered to be a miniature horoscope. Palmistry is the more ancient of the two sciences.

after 1437, because gypsies were used as spies for the Holy Roman Emperor Sigismucdi, hand reading received a blackened reputation along with the gypsies. Religious leaders warned their people that the Gypsies were tools of the devil.

gypsies being enterprising souls, told the fascinated people that the Devil was afraid of the sign of the cross and silver. But, that if one made the sign of the cross over the gypsy's had with a silver coin, the Devil would be rendered harmless. The gypsies picketed the silver...thus, the saying "Cross my palm with silver" became the slogan of the gypsies.

Around 1800, hand reading again gained stature though its use by some of Europe's greatest men...Napoleon, Balzac, Dumas...all had their favorite hand readers.

Today medicine and psychology have once again turned to palmistry to certain types of diagnosis and research and it appears that the science may well be on its way to another Golden age.

One fact not commonly known, is that the hand is like a graph that reflects the emotional and physical changes of the body. Lines change as you change, some disappear, some new ones appear, but all tell a story that is uniquely your own, just as your hands are uniquely your own.

L-1 If the lines are on the hand as in the above it means that you are shy, aloof and because of this people sometimes consider you cold or self centered...your sex urge is more mental than physical
L-1-A Many lines cutting through the life line depict the person who is a mental hand wringer...he worries and chews about everything ...often unnecessarily. Perfectionists.

L-2 Love of life, good energy and psychical fitness, loves to travel, responds warmly to sex and generally likes to marry young.

L-3 DOUBLE LIFE LINE indicates great vitality, shows great protection from some unseen force, This is very lucky to have, as ti promises that the life will continue no matter how serious the illness or accident may be.

L-4 You have a great love of home and tradition n o matter how far you travel, Home will always be i n your heart. If ending with a slight fork, you will have a long and active life.

L-5 You have good self control and your life is governed by the ambitious side of your nature...success is very important to you.

L-6 When an island appears in the life line it indicates a period of delicacy and stress...when the line continues on it shows the stress is over.
